William A. Taylor Jr. Appointed Managing Partner Following Leadership Transition at McConnell Jones

McConnell Jones, the largest majority African American–owned public accounting firm in the United States, has announced the appointment of William A. Taylor Jr. as managing partner following the completion of a structured two-year leadership transition.

Under the plan, current Managing Partner Wayne McConnell will assume the role of chairman once the transition period concludes.

Taylor currently serves as a tax partner at the firm and brings decades of leadership experience, technical expertise and a strong commitment to client service and community engagement. Firm officials said the transition plan is designed to ensure leadership continuity, maintain strategic momentum and provide a seamless transfer of responsibilities.

“This evolution reflects our commitment to thoughtful succession planning and long-term stability for our firm and our clients,” McConnell said in a statement. “William has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of our firm’s culture, values and strategic direction.”

Before joining McConnell Jones, Taylor founded and led Taylor CPA & Associates for 25 years, experience McConnell said demonstrates the entrepreneurial insight and operational leadership needed to guide the firm’s future growth.

During the transition period, Taylor will work closely with the firm’s leadership team while taking on expanded responsibilities, including strategic growth initiatives, talent development and infrastructure expansion. He will also oversee continued delivery of services to clients across multiple industries.
