View From A Pew: I Wonder Do You Know Him?

I wonder if you know the kind of God we serve. Not the kind of God we talk about on Sunday morning and forget about by Monday afternoon. I mean the kind of God who shows up right in the middle of your struggle — the kind of God who walks with you when the odds say you should have already been defeated.

Do you know a God who said “no weapon formed against you shall prosper”? Not that the weapon wouldn’t be formed. Not that the attack wouldn’t come. Not that the critics wouldn’t gather. But that when the smoke clears, the weapon would fail.

I wonder if you know a God who promised that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. In other words, trouble might clock in for the night shift, but it does not have permanent employment in your life.

Yet too many of us are spending our time focusing on the negativity of our reality. We’re studying our haters. We’re analyzing our critics. We’re worried about who’s talking, who’s plotting, who’s digging ditches and hoping we fall in them.

But let me remind you of something simple: haters hate. That’s what they do. They’ll hate your success. They’ll hate your progress. They’ll hate what you wear, where you go, and how God keeps opening doors they thought were closed.

But while they’re busy watching you, you ought to be lifting Him. Because Jesus said it plainly: “If I be lifted up, I’ll draw all men unto me.”

That means the answer is not obsessing over your enemies. The answer is prioritizing your Savior. Because when you keep your focus on Jesus, something powerful begins to happen. The same God who saw you when nobody believed in you… The same God who carried you when you thought you couldn’t make it… The same God who opened doors nobody could shut… That same God will do something that will confuse your enemies.

He will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies. Not after they leave. Not when they apologize. Not when they finally understand your worth. But right in front of them.

God will bless you so publicly that the same people who doubted you will have front-row seats to your testimony. And somebody reading this knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Because if it had not been for Jesus…You wouldn’t have what you have. You wouldn’t know what you know. You wouldn’t be where you are. Somebody ought to testify right now: “Can’t nobody do me like Jesus.”

And the reason you’re still standing isn’t because you were the strongest. It’s because your God was bigger than your enemies. Bigger than the lies. Bigger than the rumors. Bigger than the traps set in your path.

So, stop worrying about the people digging ditches. Just keep walking. Because the God you serve is the same God who prepares tables, opens doors, and turns enemies into witnesses of His favor.

And from where I’m sitting in this pew, that’s enough reason to keep lifting His name.
