The Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) at Morehouse School of Medicine will host a community wellness fair in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 1, aimed at providing free physical, mental and spiritual health resources to residents.
The “Health, Hope and Healing Wellness Fair” will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1600 Fort Benning Road. The event, held in partnership with The Pillars Initiative and Valley Healthcare System Inc., is open to the public at no cost.
“At SHLI, statewide collaborations with local agencies, churches and healthcare providers are essential to empowering communities with vital information and resources that allow them to thrive,” said Dr. Maisha Standifer, director of population health at SHLI. “We are fortunate to have so many partnerships that support us in advancing health equity.”
Attendees can access free health screenings, rapid tests, vision and dental exams, mental health support and prayer services. The Food Mill will also provide nutrition services, cooking demonstrations and fresh produce at low cost.
The fair is part of SHLI’s Georgia Thrives campaign, launched in 2023 to address rising HIV rates among Black Georgians, particularly Black women.
Registration is required and can be completed online at hhhwellnessfair.eventbrite.com.
