Free wellness fair, blood drive set for June 13 in Columbus

A coalition of local organizations will host a free community-wide wellness fair and blood drive next month, aiming to expand access to preventive care and critical health resources as medical costs continue to rise nationwide.

St. Mary’s Road United Methodist Church is partnering with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated’s Columbus Alumnae Chapter and the American Red Cross to present the second annual event on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, located at 3993 St. Mary’s Road.

Organizers said the fair is designed to promote preventive care, increase health awareness and connect residents with local providers and services.

Attendees will have access to a range of free offerings, including health screenings, mental health assessments, blood pressure and diabetes checks, and consultations with healthcare professionals. Additional services include stroke and breast exam awareness, dementia screenings, and vision testing.

Confirmed participants include New Horizons Behavioral Health, which will offer HIV screenings and resources related to opioid use disorder, and Oak Street Health. Other services will include “Ask the Doc” consultations, massage chair therapy, and wellness education stations focused on “Know Your Numbers” health metrics such as blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels.

In addition to health services, the event will feature free food, door prizes and family-friendly activities.

A central component of the event is the blood drive, where organizers are encouraging community members to donate. The need is especially urgent for patients living with sickle cell disease, who may require frequent transfusions.

According to organizers, more than 100,000 people in the United States live with sickle cell disease, and patients can require up to 100 pints of blood each year. Blood donations cannot be manufactured and rely entirely on volunteer donors. Officials noted that one in three African American donors is a match for individuals with the condition.

As part of a June promotion, donors may receive a $20 Amazon gift card, along with an additional $15 electronic gift card from a participating vendor.
