Rob Scott, director of Community Reinvestment for the Columbus Consolidated Government, has resigned from his position and will leave next month to accept a senior leadership role with the City of Tampa, Florida.
Scott's final day with the Columbus government will be July 3. He has been named Housing and Community Development Director for the City of Tampa, where he will oversee housing programs, community development initiatives, and strategic efforts aimed at enhancing quality of life in one of Florida's fastest-growing metropolitan areas.
During his tenure in Columbus, Scott played a key role in overseeing community reinvestment programs, neighborhood revitalization efforts, housing initiatives, and projects designed to improve the quality of life for residents. His work focused on strengthening partnerships between local government, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to address housing and economic development needs.
City officials have not yet announced plans for filling the vacancy.
Scott's departure comes as Columbus continues to navigate a variety of housing, redevelopment, and neighborhood improvement initiatives. His move to Tampa represents a significant career advancement and reflects his experience in community development and public service.
In Tampa, Scott will oversee housing and communications operations, helping guide policies and programs related to affordable housing, community engagement, and public information.
His departure marks the end of a chapter in Columbus government and the beginning of a new opportunity in one of the Southeast's largest metropolitan areas.
