This is not the hour for family squabbles. This is the moment for maturity, self-respect, and clarity of purpose.
We must be intentional—clear about who we entrust to lead this city, not just for today, but for the present generation that is watching us, studying us, and depending on us to finally come of age. They deserve leadership that reflects preparation, vision, and the courage to confront the challenges that have long plagued Columbus.
Scripture reminds us that Joseph, the son of Jacob, was raised in Pharaoh’s house. Yet when the moment came to protect his people, he was ready. He ensured they were fed, sustained, and preserved during a time of crisis. Preparation met purpose—and purpose met responsibility.
That is the question before us now: Who among us has been prepared for such a time as this?
In my view, Isaiah Hugley represents that preparedness. Is he perfect? No. But neither are any of us. The reality is, we have entrusted this office to individuals with far less experience and far less connection to the community they were elected to serve.
The stakes are too high for hesitation or division. Our neighborhoods, our youth, and our collective dignity hang in the balance. As faith-led, God-fearing citizens, we are called not only to discern wisely—but to act boldly. Supporting one of our own is not about blind loyalty; it is about recognizing readiness, accountability, and the opportunity to guide and uplift leadership that understands our lived experience.
When we stand divided—or worse, stand neutral—we create space for forces that do not have our community’s best interests at heart. But when we stand united, we honor both our ancestors and our children yet to come.
This is not about elevating just another politician. This is about standing with a prepared public servant.
Cities across the South—Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, and Albany—have demonstrated what is possible when communities come together with purpose and vision. Even our neighbor, Phenix City, has walked this path more than once.
Now, the moment has come for Columbus.
The time is now. The responsibility is ours. The path is clear.
Let us rise above division. Let us move with purpose. Let us elect a servant leader prepared to meet the moment.
