We’re Not New to This — We’re True to This

When it comes to endorsements, let’s be clear: this is not something we just started doing when it became convenient, popular, or politically safe. At The Courier Eco Latino Newspaper, we have long believed that the responsibility of a newspaper goes beyond reporting—it includes guiding, challenging, and, when necessary, taking a stand for the betterment of the community we serve.

Over the years, our endorsements have never been about personalities, popularity contests, or political favors. They have been rooted in research, observation, and a deep understanding of the communities that depend on strong, effective leadership. We have sat through the forums, asked the hard questions, listened when others were silent, and watched who showed up—and who didn’t.

This election cycle has been no different—only more critical.

In a time where misinformation moves faster than truth and optics are often mistaken for substance, we leaned even harder into our responsibility. Through our Countdown to Change Candidate Forum Series, in partnership with Davis Broadcasting, Inc., we provided a platform for voters to see candidates unfiltered. We gave the community access—not just to campaign promises—but to preparedness, temperament, and authenticity.

And we paid attention.

We noted who respected the voters enough to show up and engage. We listened for clarity of vision, not rehearsed talking points. We looked for leadership that understands the weight of these positions—not those seeking titles, but those prepared to do the work.

Our endorsements in this cycle reflect that same standard we have always upheld:
Who is ready. Who is committed. Who has demonstrated—not just declared—the ability to lead.

We’re not new to evaluating candidates. We’re not new to standing firm in our convictions. And we’re certainly not new to taking positions that may not please everyone—but are grounded in what we believe is right for this community.

Because at the end of the day, our loyalty is not to candidates. It is to the people.

We’re not new to this. We’re true to this.
