Eighteen years ago, Dr. Robert “Bob” Wright took a special interest in The Courier Eco Latino. From 2007 through 2009, he generously shared his business acumen, wisdom, and decades of experience with our publisher—helping shape the growth and sustainability of our publication during critical years. His quiet generosity and unwavering commitment to service left an indelible mark on our organization and the broader community.
In his honor, The Dr. Robert Wright Philanthropy Award is presented annually to an individual who embodies his spirit of service, mentorship, and visionary leadership.
This year, we proudly recognize Charles E. Huff, Jr.
A proud native of Columbus, Georgia, Mr. Huff has dedicated over 50 years to serving the community as a licensed funeral director, civic leader, and cultural advocate. His influence spans generations and institutions, anchored by a deep commitment to both tradition and progress.
He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and a Gold Coat Member of the Prince Hall Masons. His leadership and service have extended to numerous organizations, including the Columbus Civic Center Board, the YMCA of Metropolitan Columbus, the Historic Columbus Foundation, and the Chattahoochee Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
A gifted visual storyteller, Huff is also a published photographer whose work has appeared in Jet and Ebony magazines. As the visionary behind Star Productions, Inc., he played a major role in elevating Columbus’s cultural landscape—most notably by promoting the inaugural concert at the Columbus Civic Center in 1996, headlined by the legendary Gladys Knight.
