The Courier Eco Latino Newspaper to Celebrate 20 Years of Service with Anniversary Gala

The Courier Eco Latino newspaper will mark two decades of service to the Tri-City community with its 20th Anniversary Awards Gala, an evening of celebration, recognition, and live entertainment, on Saturday, July 26, at Green Island Country Club.

The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will honor individuals and organizations making a meaningful impact in African American and Hispanic communities throughout Columbus, Fort Moore, Phenix City and beyond.

Founded in 2005, the Courier Eco Latino has served as a trusted source of information and inspiration for the region’s Black and Brown residents. For 20 years, the publication has focused on uplifting stories, educational content, and community advocacy aimed at improving the quality of life for families across the Chattahoochee Valley.

“This celebration is more than just a milestone—it’s a reflection of our unwavering commitment to the communities we serve,” said publisher Wane Hailes. “As we embrace a fully digital future, we remain dedicated to delivering stories that matter, amplifying voices that deserve to be heard, and building bridges that unite.”

The gala will feature the prestigious CEL Awards, recognizing excellence in community leadership and public service, as well as the Lift Him Up Awards, which honor men who inspire and uplift others through mentorship, advocacy and example.

Guests will enjoy dinner and live musical performances by Tony Parkman, Marceda Lewis, Julian Leake, and Kelsey Hollis, with special guest AZ Lawrence and the Band.

Individual tickets and reserved tables for eight are currently on sale. To purchase, visit 1300 Wynnton Road, Suite 104, or call 706-358-9202.

As the Courier Eco Latino transitions from print to a comprehensive digital platform, the publication promises to continue evolving with the times while staying grounded in its mission to inform, empower and engage.

“This gala is about honoring the past, celebrating the present, and envisioning a future where our platform continues to grow and serve,” Hailes said. “We invite the entire community to join us for this unforgettable evening.”
