SISTERS Inc. to Host 2025 Juneteenth Western Dinner and Dance

Dust off your boots and grab your hat. SISTERS Inc. will host its 2025 Annual Juneteenth Western Dinner and Dance at 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center, 801 Front Ave.

The community is invited to don western attire and join the celebration of freedom and heritage. The evening will feature a western dinner buffet, line dancing, souvenir photographs and more.

President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law in 2021, making June 19 a federal holiday. It marked the first new federal holiday since Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 1983. Juneteenth recognizes the emancipation of enslaved people in Texas and across the United States.

“Our Juneteenth celebration is a signature event of our foundation, which was established long before it became a federal holiday,” said Valerie L. Fuller of the Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. “The Juneteenth Western Dinner and Dance helps support scholarships and programs that benefit college-bound scholars and families throughout the community. None of it would be possible without the invaluable participation and support of our patrons for nearly 20 years.”

Tickets are $75 and can be purchased from any member of the Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

“We are celebrating the freedom afforded by the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 and invite everyone to participate,” said event chair Carla McKinney. “Treat yourself to a fun-filled night of entertainment, great food, dancing and camaraderie.”
