SISTERS, Inc. to Host 19th Annual Rosa Parks Women of Courage Breakfast

Event to Honor Women Leading Social Justice Efforts Across the Chattahoochee Valley

SISTERS, Inc., the foundation of the Gamma Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, will host the 19th Annual Rosa Parks Women of Courage Breakfast on Monday, March 16, 2026, honoring women whose leadership and advocacy reflect the enduring legacy of civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

The annual signature event recognizes women who demonstrate exceptional courage, service and commitment to advancing social justice, equity and empowerment throughout the Chattahoochee Valley and beyond.

This year’s honorees include:

Evelyn “Mimi” Woodson, recognized for decades of public service, community leadership and advocacy on behalf of military families and underserved communities.

Pat Hugley Green, honored for her work in education and policy leadership, as well as her commitment to expanding equitable opportunities for students.

Arreasha Lawrence, celebrated for her dedication to youth empowerment, social justice initiatives and grassroots community activism.

The breakfast will feature keynote speaker Keisha Lance Bottoms, former mayor of Atlanta, who is widely known for her leadership on issues of equity, public service and civic engagement.

The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Columbus Convention & Trade Center, 801 Front Ave.

Beyond celebration, the breakfast serves as a major fundraiser supporting scholarships for college-bound students. Since its inception, SISTERS, Inc. has awarded more than $750,000 in scholarships to local students pursuing higher education, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to education, leadership development and lifelong learning.

“The Rosa Parks Women of Courage Breakfast has become a cornerstone event in the region — uplifting women who demonstrate exceptional commitment to social justice, civic engagement and community transformation,” said Chasity Reese, president of SISTERS, Inc. “Proceeds from sponsorships and ticket purchases directly support scholarships for college-bound students, ensuring that the next generation of leaders has the resources and encouragement to pursue higher education.”

Individual tickets are $65. Platinum, gold, silver and patron-level sponsorships are available. Community members, organizations and supporters are encouraged to attend, sponsor or donate to expand educational opportunities for promising young scholars.
