Muscogee County School District to Host SHINE Entrepreneurship Finals

Staff Report

The Muscogee County School District will host the final round of its annual SHINE Competition, a Shark Tank-style event showcasing student entrepreneurs, on Sunday, May 4.

The event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the MCSD Public Education Center, located at 2960 Macon Road in Columbus.

The competition, which stands for Supporting Highly Innovative New Entrepreneurs, is designed to promote innovation, creativity and business leadership among local high school students.

Held in partnership with StartUP Columbus and Columbus State University’s Turner College of Business and Technology, the SHINE Competition highlights finalists from five schools: Columbus High, Hardaway High, Jordan Vocational College and Career Academy, Kendrick High and Northside High schools.

Throughout the school year, students have advanced through several competitive rounds at their individual schools, refining their business ideas and preparing pitches for the district-wide finals.

The initiative is led by the district’s Career, Technical and Agricultural Education program and aims to equip students with real-world entrepreneurial skills and the confidence to become future business leaders.
