In a celebration of perseverance and second chances, Muscogee County Prison will host its 2025 Offender Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, June 4 at 10 a.m., honoring incarcerated individuals who have earned their diplomas while serving time.
The ceremony, held at 7175 Sacerdote Lane, is presented in partnership with Columbus Technical College and recognizes the accomplishments of the prison’s Adult Education Class of 2025.
“This graduation is more than a milestone,” said Warden Herbert Walker III in a statement. “It’s a testament to the power of second chances and the role education plays in rehabilitation. We’re proud of these individuals for choosing a different path and working hard to better themselves.”
The educational program, part of the prison’s broader reentry and rehabilitation efforts, is designed to reduce recidivism by equipping offenders with the skills they need to successfully reintegrate into society.
“This event shows our commitment to supporting transformation and opportunity,” Walker said. “Education behind the walls gives our returning citizens a real shot at a better future.”
Media representatives planning to attend should arrive by 9:45 a.m. and check in at the facility’s main lobby. A staff member will escort attendees to the event. Guests are asked to RSVP by contacting Latoya Alston at 706-641-5800 or Alston.Latoya@columbusga.org.
