Muscogee County Primary Election by the Numbers

As Muscogee County prepares for the upcoming June 16, 2026 runoff election, voter turnout figures from the May 19 primary provide an early snapshot of the electorate and voting patterns that helped shape the local races.

According to official election data, Muscogee County reported 127,710 active registered voters. A total of 36,941 ballots were cast through a combination of early voting, absentee voting and Election Day voting.

Of the total turnout, 18,011 voters identified as Black, 14,354 as White, 2,275 as Other or Unknown, 586 as Hispanic and 357 as Asian or Pacific Islander.

Democrats accounted for the majority of participation, with 23,779 voters casting Democratic ballots. Republicans cast 11,467 ballots, while 1,695 voters identified as Non-Partisan.

Women made up 59.8% of the electorate, while men accounted for approximately 40% of total turnout.

County election figures showed Black voter turnout at 14.1% and White voter turnout at 11.2%.

Absentee Voting

A total of 1,489 absentee ballots were requested and issued during the election cycle. Of those ballots, 1,302 were returned and 1,291 were accepted for counting.

Among accepted absentee ballots, 911 were Democratic ballots and 356 were Republican ballots.

Early Voting

Early voting accounted for the largest share of ballots cast, with 21,275 voters participating before Election Day.

Of those voters, 15,561 cast Democratic ballots, 4,994 cast Republican ballots and 700 identified as Non-Partisan.

By race and ethnicity, early voting totals included 12,416 Black voters, 6,646 White voters, 1,201 voters identified as Other or Unknown, 275 Hispanic voters, 181 Asian or Pacific Islander voters and 71 American Indian voters.

Election Day Voting

On Election Day, 15,463 voters cast ballots across Muscogee County precincts.

Republicans led Election Day participation with 8,071 ballots cast, compared to 6,421 Democratic ballots and 971 Non-Partisan voters.

Election Day turnout by race and ethnicity included 7,641 White voters, 5,475 Black voters, 1,066 voters identified as Other or Unknown, 308 Hispanic voters, 174 Asian or Pacific Islander voters and 87 American Indian voters.

Women accounted for 58.2% of Election Day voters, while men represented 41.7% of turnout.

With several local races headed to a runoff, election officials and candidates are expected to closely monitor voter participation trends as the June 16 election approaches.
