Meet Lift Her Up Awardee: Kimberly Wright

Kimberly A. Wright’s professional journey reflects lifelong learning, service and the power of reinvention. A native of Columbus, Georgia, Wright has built a career that bridges education, communications, entrepreneurship and civic engagement.

A 1990 graduate of Kendrick High School, Wright took a nontraditional path to higher education. At age 42, she returned to the classroom at Columbus State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications in 2017. She continued her studies at Troy University, where she completed a master’s degree in strategic communications in 2018.

In 2020, Wright launched JBK Enterprises, a web development company focused on helping local small businesses, fraternities and sororities establish strong digital presences. Her entrepreneurial work reflects a commitment to empowering organizations through effective communication and technology.

Wright currently serves as director of communications for the Muscogee County School District, where she oversees messaging and engagement between the district, families and the community. She previously served as an adjunct instructor at Columbus Technical College, mentoring future communications professionals.

Committed to leadership and professional growth, Wright has participated in Leadership 360 at Columbus State University and Leadership Columbus (Class of 2024) and is part of the 2025 Accredited in Public Relations (APR) Cohort.

Active in community service, Wright has served with Girls Inc., the NAACP Columbus chapter and other local organizations, leading with purpose and a dedication to community impact.
