Meet Lift Her Up Awardee:Cheryl Davis
More than two decades ago, an idea rooted in inspiration and sisterhood began to take shape inside the halls of Davis Broadcasting, Inc. Today, that idea has grown into one of the Chattahoochee Valley’s most anticipated annual gatherings — the Women’s Empowerment Luncheon — thanks to the vision of Cheryl Davis, operations manager for Davis Broadcasting.
Davis launched the event in 2002 with a simple but powerful mission: to create a space where women could gather, be encouraged and hear messages that reflected strength, resilience and leadership. What began as a bold concept inside the region’s only Black-owned radio broadcasting company quickly became a meaningful community tradition.
The inaugural luncheon welcomed nearly 200 women and featured an impressive lineup. The keynote speaker was Tina Knowles, entrepreneur and mother of global superstar Beyoncé, while national recording artist Kelly Price provided the musical inspiration for the event.
Over the years, the luncheon has hosted an impressive roster of celebrity speakers, entertainers and community leaders who share messages of empowerment, faith and perseverance. Beyond the star power, the event is known for fostering genuine connection and sisterhood among attendees.
Through Davis’ leadership and vision, the Women’s Empowerment Luncheon has grown into a signature event that continues to uplift and inspire women across the Chattahoochee Valley — a testament to the power of one idea and one woman’s commitment to empowering others.
