Longtime Bishop Aide Kenneth Cutts Named Among Capitol Hill’s Top Chiefs of Staff

Kenneth Cutts, longtime chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop Jr., has been recognized as one of Capitol Hill’s Top 10 Chiefs of Staff for 2026 by Capitol CNCT.

The recognition honors congressional chiefs of staff considered among the most effective and respected senior aides serving in Washington. Chiefs of staff oversee congressional office operations, coordinate legislative and district priorities, manage staff, and advise members of Congress on policy and strategy.

Cutts, who has served longer than any current member of Bishop’s staff, was praised for his steady leadership style, institutional knowledge, and collaborative approach to management.

According to Capitol CNCT, colleagues and nominators described Cutts as a leader who empowers staff members while providing consistent support and guidance throughout the office.

“He values people over ego,” one nominator stated.

The organization noted that chiefs of staff are responsible for “managing up, managing down, and managing sideways” while maintaining the relationships and day-to-day operations necessary to keep congressional offices functioning effectively.

In announcing the recognition, Bishop congratulated his longtime aide publicly.

“Congratulations to my longtime staff member and Chief of Staff, Kenneth Cutts, who was recognized by Capitol CNCT (‘connect’) as a Top 10 Chief of Staff for 2026,” Bishop said.

Capitol CNCT said its mission is to connect and develop the next generation of political leaders through networking opportunities, community building, and bipartisan discussions aimed at strengthening leadership in the nation’s capital.

Cutts’ selection places him among a select group of senior congressional staffers recognized nationally for leadership, professionalism, and public service on Capitol Hill.
