Leadership Over Rhetoric: The Clear Choice for Columbus' Future READ MORE Opinion: The Choice Now Belongs to the Voters
Disinformation has long played a powerful role in shaping political narratives, often traveling faster and reaching farther than verified facts. In nearly every election cycle, rumors, half-truths and unsubstantiated allegations enter the public discourse, creating confusion and distracting voters from the substantive issues that matter most.
The current mayoral race has been no exception. Throughout this campaign, voters have been exposed to negative claims, accusations and political attacks. While spirited debate is an essential part of the democratic process, many of the allegations that have circulated have either been disproven, lacked credible evidence or failed to withstand scrutiny when measured against the facts.
Now that the race has narrowed to two candidates, voters are presented with a clearer choice about the future direction of Columbus. This is the moment when qualifications, experience, leadership and vision must outweigh campaign rhetoric and political distraction.

From the perspective of the Courier Eco Latino Newspaper, that choice is clear.
After reviewing the candidates’ records, leadership experience, commitment to public service and understanding of the challenges facing Columbus, we continue to believe Isaiah Hugley stands out as the most qualified candidate in this mayoral race.

In District 7, even though the district is more than 64% minority, we firmly believe Rebecca “Becca” Zajac will be attentive to the needs of the entire district — not just Uptown and the Historic District. With that understanding, her record of accomplishments, when compared with her opponent’s, speaks for itself. We believe Zajac is the most qualified candidate to represent District 7.

Finally, in the district 9 at-large race, Dr. Cathy Cook is without question the best choice. Given her opponent’s temperament and demonstrated lack of respect toward city officials, Cook offers the steady leadership, compassion, integrity and deep knowledge of this community that Columbus needs. She comes from a legacy of service and leadership, and we believe she is prepared to serve all citizens with dignity and respect.
