Let me say this plain. Everybody who smiles at you is not celebrating you. Some are studying you. Some are struggling with you. And some—if we’re honest—are threatened by the very light God placed inside of you.
And when people can’t handle your light, they go looking for company in the shadows. They start whispering. They start gathering. They start turning others against you.
It’s not personal. It’s spiritual. It’s emotional. It’s internal. It is a reflection of their own insecurity, their own jealousy, and their own fear of your progress.
People don’t throw rocks at things that don’t shine. They throw rocks at what glows. So, if they aiming at you… keep shining anyway. Don’t let somebody else’s discomfort become your identity. Don’t let their misunderstanding turn into your self-doubt. And whatever you do, don’t let them push you into a corner called self-pity.
You better know your worth—even when they don’t acknowledge it. You better walk in your calling—even when they don’t applaud it. Because the moment you become uncomfortable with not being liked… is the moment you start shrinking to fit spaces God never designed for you. If they couldn’t see your value when they had access to you, they don’t deserve a front-row seat now that you’re growing.
Let them lose you. Yes, let them talk. Let them gather. Let them try to rewrite your story. Because while your friends may believe in your potential, sometimes your enemies will push you to live up to it. They’ll stretch you. They’ll sharpen you. They’ll unknowingly position you for purpose. And when they team up to tear down your name, all it proves is this—they didn’t have the courage to face you one-on-one.
So don’t bow. Don’t break. Don’t back up. Stand tall. Stay focused. And keep moving forward. Because at the end of the day, light doesn’t ask permission to shine… It just does.
