Holsey Chapel CME Church has announced the appointment of Rev. Antoine Shyne as its new pastor, bringing with him more than two decades of pastoral leadership across the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Shyne is the eldest son of the late Rev. Dr. O’Neal Shyne Jr. and Mrs. O’Neal Shyne Jr. He is also the grandson of Rev. and Mrs. Lonnie Waites, the late Rev. O’Neal Shyne and the late Mrs. Mary E. Gates-Shyne.
Shyne answered his call to ministry at an early age, receiving his local preacher’s license in 1995 at just 10 years old. A graduate of Meadowdale High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Central State University in 2008 and later a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary in 2013.
Since his first appointment in 2003 at Reed Chapel CME Church in Dayton, Shyne has served congregations across the Second Episcopal District. His assignments have included Metropolitan CME Church in Cincinnati, Bethel CME Church in Canton, Phillips Temple CME Church in Toledo, Dozier Memorial CME Church in Flint, Saint Peter CME Church in Kansas City, and most recently Beebe Memorial Cathedral CME Church, where he served as associate pastor and later senior pastor.
Holsey Chapel CME members said they are excited to welcome their new leader and look forward to his vision for the church.
Shyne is married to First Lady Leila Shyne, and they are the proud parents of their first child, Ananiah Judah Shyne.
