Greater Columbus Fair to Return in 2026 After Yearlong Pause

Greater Columbus Fair to Return in 2026 After Yearlong Pause

The Greater Columbus Fair will not be held this year as city officials work to secure a new vendor, but organizers say the event is expected to return in 2026 with an improved experience for fairgoers.

According to a statement from the Columbus Civic Center, the pause will allow time to reassess operations, strengthen partnerships, and ensure future fairs meet community expectations for both quality and safety.

“Our goal is to provide the best possible entertainment experience while responsibly managing costs,” said Kanise Wiggins, interim director of the Columbus Civic Center. “We’re using this time to make sure that when the fair returns, it reflects the pride and energy of Columbus.”

Many residents expressed disappointment but also optimism about the decision.

“I’ve been bringing my kids to the fair since they were toddlers,” said Angela Moore, a north Columbus resident. “It’s sad to miss it this year, but I’d rather see them take their time and bring it back right.”

Local vendors who have benefited from past fairs also see the break as an opportunity. “This gives small businesses like mine a chance to prepare and maybe even collaborate with the city on new ideas,” said Marcus Johnson, who runs a local small business.

City officials have not yet announced a date for the fair’s return but said updates will be shared as planning continues into next year.
