More than 500 residents gathered Saturday, March 21, 2026, at campaign headquarters on Macon Road for a free community fish fry hosted in support of mayoral candidate Isaiah Hugley.
The event drew a steady stream of attendees throughout the day, as community members stopped by to pick up campaign T-shirts and yard signs while engaging with volunteers and supporters. Organizers described the gathering as both a show of grassroots enthusiasm and an opportunity to connect directly with voters ahead of the upcoming election.

Supporters said the event reflected growing momentum around Hugley’s candidacy, with many citing his long-standing ties to the community and record of public service. Families, seniors and young voters alike were in attendance, creating what organizers called a “community-centered atmosphere” focused on fellowship and civic engagement.

In addition to food and campaign materials, the event served as an informal meet-and-greet, allowing residents to discuss local issues and share concerns about the future of Columbus. Volunteers distributed information about voter registration, early voting dates and ways to get involved in the campaign.

Hugley’s campaign team emphasized that the fish fry was designed to bring people together in a welcoming environment while encouraging participation in the democratic process.
With the mayoral race approaching, events like Saturday’s gathering highlight the increasing visibility of local campaigns and the role of community-based outreach in mobilizing voters across Columbus.
