District 7 City Council candidate Becca Zajac continues to gain momentum heading into the June 16 runoff election, earning endorsements and support from a diverse coalition of community leaders, residents, business professionals, faith leaders, and civic advocates throughout Columbus.
Supporters describe Zajac as a candidate who has demonstrated a willingness to listen, engage with residents, and address the concerns facing District 7 and the city as a whole. Her endorsements reflect a broad cross-section of the community, including individuals from various racial, economic, professional, and political backgrounds.
Community members backing Zajac say their support is based on her accessibility, commitment to public service, and desire to bring thoughtful and independent leadership to Columbus Council.
"One of the qualities that has resonated most with voters is Becca Zajac's willingness to meet directly with residents, answer difficult questions, and engage in meaningful conversations about the future of District 7," said Wane Hailes, publisher of the Courier Eco Latino Newspaper. "That openness, accessibility, and commitment to accountability are among the reasons she earned our endorsement. Voters may not agree with every position a candidate takes, but they respect leaders who are willing to listen, engage respectfully, and be held accountable for their decisions. Throughout this campaign, Becca has consistently demonstrated those qualities."
The growing list of supporters includes longtime neighborhood advocates, small-business owners, educators, veterans, nonprofit leaders, and residents who say they are looking for practical solutions rather than political rhetoric.
Many supporters have pointed to concerns such as neighborhood development, public safety, infrastructure improvements, economic growth, and government accountability as reasons for supporting Zajac's candidacy.
As the runoff campaign enters its final two weeks, supporters say the endorsements reflect more than support for a single candidate. They view the coalition forming around Zajac as an example of residents from different backgrounds finding common ground around a shared vision for the district's future.
The endorsements come at a pivotal time in Columbus politics as voters prepare to select new leadership for several key positions throughout local government.
Zajac advanced to the runoff after finishing among the top vote-getters in the May municipal election and now faces a head-to-head contest that will determine who represents District 7 on Columbus Council.
Supporters say the runoff presents an opportunity for voters to choose a candidate they believe can build consensus, work collaboratively with fellow council members, and represent all residents of the district regardless of neighborhood, race, or political affiliation.
Early voting begins June 8 and continues through June 12. Election Day is June 16.
As the campaign enters its final stretch, Zajac's supporters say their message remains simple: effective leadership requires bringing people together, and they believe Becca Zajac has demonstrated the ability to do exactly that.
