Dear Graduates: The World Is Waiting on What God Put Inside You

Graduates, let me leave you with something to think about before you walk across that stage and step into the next chapter of your life.
Imagine for a moment that you are lying on your deathbed. Standing around you are ghosts. Not ghosts from a haunted house, but ghosts representing your unfulfilled potential. The ghost of the book you never wrote. The business you never started. The song you never sang. The vision you kept postponing. The talent God placed inside of you that fear talked you out of using.
And those ghosts are angry. They whisper, “We came to you because you were supposed to bring us to life. We chose you because you had the ability, the opportunity, and the calling. But now… we must all go to the grave together.”
That, my brothers and sisters, is why they say the graveyard is the richest place on earth. Not because of money buried there, but because of dreams buried there. Ideas never acted on. Purpose never pursued. Potential never realized. Books never written. Businesses never launched. Communities never transformed. Prayers never prayed boldly enough to become reality.
And the tragedy is not dying. The tragedy is dying full instead of dying empty.
You have invested years into your education, and people have invested years into you. Parents sacrificed. Teachers poured into you. Friends encouraged you. Some of you fought through sleepless nights, financial struggles, self-doubt, heartbreak, anxiety, and setbacks just to make it to this moment. Do not insult your struggle by living beneath your potential.
The world does not need another spectator. The world needs your talent. The world needs your voice. The world needs your ideas. The world needs your courage. And hear me clearly: your life will not be a straight path. Sometimes you will fall. Sometimes you will fail. Sometimes you will walk into doors God never intended to open just so you can appreciate the ones He has prepared for you.
But don’t fear falling. Fall forward. Because sometimes failure is heaven’s classroom. Sometimes losing helps you discover what truly matters. Sometimes rejection is God’s protection. Sometimes hardship is the very thing that develops the strength your destiny requires.
Remember this: ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. Comfort has buried more dreams than struggle ever will. Some of you are waiting to be perfect before you move. Stop waiting. The quicker you accept you won’t be good at everything in the beginning, the faster you will grow. Greatness is not born in comfort zones. Diamonds are formed under pressure.
And while you’re climbing, don’t leave God behind. Put God in everything you do. Not just on Sunday morning. Not just in moments of crisis. But in your decisions, your relationships, your career, your business, your purpose, and your pain. Because man gives the award, but God gives the reward.
Degrees are wonderful. Titles are impressive. Money is useful. But you’ll never see a U-Haul behind a hearse. You cannot take possessions with you, but you can leave purpose behind. You can leave impact behind. You can leave a legacy behind.
So, live in such a way that when your final day comes, the ghosts of your potential won’t be standing around your bed disappointed. Let them say: “He used every gift God gave him.” “She maximized every opportunity.” “They turned pain into purpose.” “They left this world better than they found it.”
Graduates, disappoint the graveyard. Dream boldly. Walk by faith. Take the risk. Answer the call. And when your story is over, make sure you die empty.
