Davis Broadcasting's annual Radiothon is back. From Monday, Nov. 18th, to Saturday, Nov.23rd, the media organization will be bringing the community together to bring holiday joy to local children in need.
In its 38th year, this community-driven fundraiser raises money for a children’s Christmas party where gifts for hundreds of children in the Columbus area will be given away.
The event was started by the founders of Davis Broadcasting Gregory and Cheryl Davis to give back to those experiencing financial hardship during the Christmas season.
“We don’t want any child to miss out on receiving a toy. Even if it’s not Christmas morning, every child still has a chance to receive a toy and maybe even win a bike,” said Cheryl Davis, adding that the event takes months of planning and effort, but the payoff is priceless.
Over the years, the community has shown up and shown out. All of the donations raised go directly toward purchasing toys for the Children's Christmas Party, which draws between 200 and 300 families annually.
The Radiothon and Christmas Party wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community. Every year, local businesses, organizations, and individuals come together to make it a success.
"It’s not just us. It’s the community that pitches in, year after year, to make this possible," Cheryl Davis said. "Their generosity shows how much they care about making the holidays special for every child."
If you’d like to support the Radiothon, there are several ways to get involved. Donations can be made online at DBI Radio's website, by calling the station at 706-576-3565, or by visiting their headquarters, located at 2203 Wynnton Road, Columbus, Ga. 31906.
The fundraiser runs from Monday, Nov. 18th, to Saturday, Nov. 23rd, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. DBI is also looking for volunteers to help on Saturday with two-hour shifts, and sign-ups are available either in person or over the phone.
