CPD Sgt. Katina Williams Named WRBL News 3’s 2026 Remarkable Woman

Columbus Police Department Sgt. Katina Williams has been named WRBL News 3’s 2026 Remarkable Woman, an honor recognizing women who make significant contributions to their communities through leadership, service and advocacy.

Williams, who leads the Columbus Police Department’s Community Policing Unit, is widely recognized for her work with some of the city’s most vulnerable residents, particularly individuals experiencing homelessness. Her approach emphasizes building relationships, connecting people with social services and community resources, and developing practical solutions that improve lives while strengthening trust between law enforcement and the community.

The recognition is part of Nexstar Media Group’s annual Remarkable Women initiative, which highlights women across the country who are making a meaningful impact in their communities.

As part of the honor, a $1,000 donation was made in Williams’ name to Girls Inc., supporting programs designed to empower young girls to succeed through mentorship, leadership development and education.

Williams will also travel to Nashville, Tennessee, where she will join other honorees from across the nation for the national Remarkable Women celebration hosted by Nexstar Media Group.

Columbus Police Chief Stoney Mathis praised Williams for her dedication to service and community engagement.

“Sgt. Williams shows every day what it means to truly serve others,” Mathis said. “She builds trust, treats people with dignity, and works tirelessly to help those who need it most. We’re proud to see her receive this recognition.”

Williams’ selection comes as communities across the country observe Women’s History Month, adding additional significance to the recognition for both the department and the Columbus community.
