Courier Eco Latino Launches New Self-Service Obituary Platform

The Courier Eco Latino newspaper has launched a new self-service obituary platform, providing families across the Columbus community with a compassionate, affordable, and accessible way to honor their loved ones.

As America’s population ages, the need for meaningful digital tributes is rising. Experts project that the number of deaths in the United States will grow by more than 50 percent by the mid-2040s, driven largely by the 60 million Baby Boomers entering their 70s, 80s, and 90s. With cremations increasing and families becoming more digitally connected, newspapers nationwide are adapting to meet evolving needs in how communities remember and celebrate life.

“The future of obituaries has arrived,” said Courier Eco Latino Publisher Wane A. Hailes. “This new platform allows our readers to recognize and pay tribute to family members, friends, and loved ones in a way that’s both personal and lasting.”

The new obituary page offers families an interactive digital space to announce a passing, celebrate a life, and connect with others during times of loss. Unlike traditional print announcements, which are often brief and limited, the platform provides unlimited storytelling and multimedia options, allowing users to share photos, videos, and heartfelt memories.

Families can create detailed tributes that go beyond basic information—sharing anecdotes, accomplishments, passions, and charitable legacies. Each tribute becomes a lasting archive, preserving family history for future generations and genealogy research. Loved ones can post memories, condolences, and reflections, turning a traditional obituary into a celebration of life.

In addition to its enhanced features, the platform remains affordable and accessible. Death notices are $35, In Memoriam listings $50, and full obituaries $100. However, families using one of Courier Eco Latino’s partner funeral homes—Progressive Funeral Home, Charles E. Huff International Funeral Home, or Taylor Funeral Home- post death notices in our publication free of charge. Feel free to contact them today.

Families can visit couriernews.org and click on the “Obituaries” section to submit tributes directly.

“Our goal is simple,” Hailes said. “To help families honor their loved ones with dignity and respect, while offering the community a place to remember, reflect, and heal together.”

Courier Eco Latino’s digital edition reaches more than 40,000 readers daily, making it one of the most trusted and widely read community news sources in the region.
