Columbus Transitional Center Gets New Superintendent

The Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Travis Stubbs, assistant superintendent at Columbus Transitional Center, to superintendent at Columbus TC, located at 3900 Schatulga Road in Columbus.
As superintendent, Stubbs is now responsible for overseeing staff and supervising approximately 138 male detainees.
The Columbus facility was opened in 2005 and can house up to 182 male prisoners at the minimum-security facility.
"Travis has gained a wealth of correctional knowledge while working his way up through the ranks," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We look forward to his continued leadership in carrying out our mission at Columbus TC."
The mission of the transitional facility is to protect society by providing community residential services to residents prior to their discharge from incarceration.
According to its website the facility offers training and work release to inmates in the following areas:
Stubbs began his career with the GDC in 2012 as a Correctional Officer at Phillips State Prison. In 2014, he transferred to Rutledge SP as a Correctional Officer, where he also served on the Tactical Squad and Correctional Emergency Response Team.
In 2017, he was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2018, he joined the Interdiction Response Team. In 2020, Stubbs returned to Phillips SP as the CERT Sergeant, and in 2021, he was promoted to Lieutenant.
Later that year, he returned to Rutledge SP as the Recruitment Lt., and in 2022, he was promoted to Unit Manager.
In 2024, Stubbs was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Columbus TC, where he currently serves.
His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III, Recruitment Training, Unit Manager Training, and Assistant Superintendent Training.
