Muscogee County residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste and electronic equipment during a collection event Saturday, Oct. 11.
The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Equipment Recycling Project, hosted by Columbus Public Works’ Recycles Division and the Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission, will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbus Recycling and Sustainability Center, 8001 Pine Grove Way.
The drive-thru event is designed to keep harmful materials out of landfills and encourage recycling. Items accepted include paint, solvents, lawn care chemicals, cleaning products, automotive fluids, car batteries, and fluorescent bulbs. Electronics such as computers, printers, fax machines, and copiers will also be accepted, but televisions will not.
Organizers say the project benefits both residents and the environment.
