The Columbus Police Department will take part in National Faith & Blue Weekend 2025 with two events aimed at strengthening ties between law enforcement and the community.
The nationwide initiative pairs police agencies with faith-based and community organizations to promote dialogue and collaboration.
The first local event, “Faith, Blue & Bingo Too,” is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Public Safety Building, 510 10th St. The free gathering will feature bingo, prizes and informal conversations with officers. It is open to all ages.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, the department will hold a “Faith & Blue Motorcycle Ride and Butterfly Release” to honor the service and life of the late Cpl. Deborah Whitley. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at New Providence Baptist Church, 5227 14th Ave., with kickstands up at 9 a.m. Riders will travel to the Harris County Courthouse, 102 N. College St. in Hamilton, Ga., for the butterfly release. Motorcycles and trucks are welcome. All participants must wear a helmet and sign a waiver before the ride. Registration is available online.
CPD leaders said the weekend’s activities offer a relaxed, family-friendly way to meet the officers who serve Columbus.
Organizers and police officials are available for interviews or guest segments upon request.
