The Columbus Police Department says it arrested 28 people in September on more than 220 property crime charges, ranging from entering autos and vehicle thefts to financial fraud and burglary.
The arrests were made by the department’s Property Crimes Unit, which investigators said continues to target crimes that affect quality of life across the city.

Other arrests included individuals facing charges of shoplifting, burglary, obstruction, firearm theft, identity fraud, and making false statements. Four juveniles were also charged with burglary and misdemeanor theft, though their names were not released.
“All charges are felony charges unless otherwise noted,” police said in a release.
Assistant Chief L.H. Deaton urged residents to stay vigilant. “The Columbus Police Department encourages citizens to remain vigilant in securing vehicles, safeguarding personal belongings, and reporting suspicious activity,” the statement read.
