Columbus Police Arrest Suspect in Child Exploitation Case

A Columbus man has been arrested on multiple charges related to child exploitation following an investigation by the Columbus Police Department.

According to authorities, the investigation began on Jan. 5, 2025, when CPD’s Sexual Assault Unit received a report of inappropriate sexual communication between a juvenile female and an adult male. Detectives uncovered evidence leading to an arrest warrant for Aldair Jimenez-Bautista, 24.

With assistance from the Russell County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security, Jimenez-Bautista was taken into custody on Feb. 1, 2025. He faces the following charges:

  • Grooming a Minor for Sexual Acts
  • Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes
  • Sexual Exploitation of Children

Law enforcement officials are reminding parents and guardians to remain vigilant in protecting children from online predators.
