Columbus Actors Find Their Place at Hillman College in Netflix’s ‘A Different World’ Revival

Committee recommends candidates for president, vice presidents, secretary and treasurer ahead of Oct. 10 membership meeting
The Columbus Branch of the NAACP Nominating Committee will present its slate of candidates for branch leadership during the organization’s general membership meeting Saturday, Oct. 10.
The meeting will begin at noon at Ed’s Southern Cooking, 5435 Woodruff Farm Road in Columbus.
Following interviews with prospective candidates, the Nominating Committee selected individuals it determined to be best qualified to serve as officers of the Columbus Branch for the 2027-2029 term.




Wane A. Hailes, Dr. Deborah Sykes Tucker, Nathaniel Sanderson and Sandra Hawthorne
The committee’s recommended slate is:
· President: Wane A. Hailes
· First Vice President: Dr. Deborah Sykes Tucker
· Second Vice President: Nathaniel Sanderson
· Secretary: Sandra Hawthorne
· Treasurer: Abby Davis
The slate will be formally presented to the general membership at the Oct. 10 meeting as part of the branch’s election process.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for nominations by petition in accordance with NAACP election procedures.
The election of officers and at-large members of the Executive Committee is scheduled for Nov. 14 and will be conducted through the organization’s electronic voting platform.
Those elected will help guide the Columbus Branch during the 2027-2029 term as the organization continues its work in civil rights advocacy, voter engagement, education, economic opportunity and community empowerment.
