Muscogee County Democrats Issue First-Ever Endorsements in Nonpartisan Elections
The Muscogee County Democratic Committee announced its first-ever endorsements in nonpartisan statewide and municipal races ahead of the May 19,
The Columbus GA Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Delta Life Development Foundation, Inc., has awarded $65,200 in scholarships to outstanding high school seniors throughout its service area as part of its 2026 scholarship program.









Scholarship funds were raised through several chapter-led initiatives, highlighted by the organization’s annual Scholarship Gala, a signature fundraising event jointly sponsored by the chapter and foundation. Additional contributions from private donors also played a significant role in supporting the scholarship effort.









Students representing 16 high schools across the service area were selected as scholarship recipients, including graduates from Central High School, Russell County High School, and several surrounding public and private schools.









Recipients plan to attend a variety of colleges and universities, including public institutions, private colleges, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Their intended fields of study include pre-law, political science, criminal justice, biology, psychology, and other disciplines focused on leadership, service, and community impact.









“This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to educational development and empowering the next generation of leaders,” said Brenda C. Williams, chapter president, and LaRae D. Moore, Esq., foundation chair, in a joint statement. “We are proud to support these exceptional students as they pursue higher education and make meaningful contributions to their communities.”









The Columbus GA Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. said it remains committed to advancing educational opportunities and promoting academic excellence through scholarships, youth programming, and community engagement initiatives.
