Columbus Board of Realtors to Host 2026 Legislative Breakfast

From the cost and availability of housing to neighborhood development, property rights and economic growth, decisions made by elected officials can have a direct impact on where local families live, what homeowners pay and how communities grow.

Those issues will be at the center of the conversation when the Columbus Board of Realtors hosts its 2026 Legislative Breakfast on Thursday, Aug. 20, bringing government leaders and real estate professionals together for a discussion about the policies and challenges shaping Columbus and the surrounding region.

The annual breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Green Island Country Club, 6501 Standing Boy Road in Columbus.

Federal, state and local officials from across the Chattahoochee Valley are expected to attend, along with Realtors and other community stakeholders. Participants are expected to include city council members, school board representatives, sheriffs, police chiefs and other government and civic leaders.

The gathering is designed to strengthen communication between policymakers and professionals who work every day with homeowners, renters, buyers, sellers, developers and businesses throughout the region.

Discussions will focus on issues affecting the housing market, property rights, economic development and future growth — issues that ultimately influence the quality of life in neighborhoods across Columbus and neighboring communities.

For residents, those conversations can have real-world consequences. Government policies involving development, infrastructure, taxes, zoning and housing can influence the availability and affordability of homes, the strength of neighborhoods and opportunities for families to build wealth through homeownership.

The Legislative Breakfast also gives elected officials an opportunity to hear directly from real estate professionals about challenges and opportunities they are seeing in the local market.

This year’s program will include a special recognition of public service, honoring officials who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the community, including elected leaders preparing to retire from public office.

The Columbus Board of Realtors said recognizing those officials is an opportunity to acknowledge leaders whose service has contributed to local progress and helped strengthen partnerships throughout the region.

By bringing government and real estate leaders to the same table, CBOR hopes to encourage greater understanding of the issues facing the local housing market while reinforcing a shared responsibility to promote sustainable development, economic opportunity, homeownership and strong neighborhoods.
