Barnes to Launch Campaign for Columbus City Council District 1

Simi Barnes will officially launch her campaign for Columbus City Council District 1 with a public kickoff rally at noon Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Citizens Services Center, 311 Citizens Way.

A District 1 resident, Barnes brings more than 15 years of experience working with families and community members across the Columbus region. She said her campaign will center on responsible leadership, fiscal accountability and strengthening neighborhoods, beginning with District 1.

Barnes plans to emphasize sustainable economic growth, increased community engagement and policies aimed at promoting long-term stability. Her platform also calls for transparency and accountability in local government, guided by what she describes as integrity, responsible stewardship and a commitment to putting people before politics.

The rally will mark the formal start of her campaign and provide residents an opportunity to hear her vision for the district and the future of Columbus. Community members, supporters and local leaders are invited to attend.
