Columbus Transitional Center Gets New Superintendent
The Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Travis Stubbs, assistant superintendent at Columbus Transitional Center,
The Columbus Police Department’s Motor Squad has made an arrest in the hit-and-run investigation that claimed the life of Patrick Nerber. On July 7, 2024, Nerber was struck and killed by a vehicle in the area of Buena Vista Road and Mill Road.
Following a thorough investigation, authorities identified the driver as Wayne Allen of Columbus, Georgia.
On December 13, 2024, Allen was arrested and charged with the following:
• Homicide by Vehicle (Felony), 1st Degree
• Hit-and-Run (Felony)
• Duty to Report
Allen is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court for a preliminary hearing on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.
