View From A Pew: They Don’t Hate You… They Hate What You Represent
Let me say this slowly so it settles in your spirit. Everybody who has an issue with you doesn’t have an issue with you. Sometimes… they have an issue with what you represent. People will dislike you for one of four reasons — and sometimes all four at the same time.
#1 — They Want to Be You: They tried it. They tried to walk like you. Talk like you. Dress like you. Post like you. Pray like you. Lead like you.
They watched your moves. Studied your rhythm. Copied your cadence. And when it didn’t work for them — instead of discovering who they were — they decided to compete with who you are.
Now suddenly they want to launch what you launched. Start what you started. Build what you built. Not because they were called to it… But because they want to beat you to it. But here’s the truth they don’t know: You didn’t pick this life. This life picked you.
There were seasons you ran from it. Moments you asked God, “Why me?” Times you wished you could be quieter, smaller, less visible. But purpose will chase you down until you surrender. What they envy is what you survived to become.
#2 — They Hate Themselves: And that’s the part we don’t talk about in church. Some people aren’t mad at you — They’re disappointed in themselves.
They see your peace. They see your growth. They see your consistency. And instead of asking, “How can I grow?” They ask, “How can I tear them down?” They’ll sit in rooms where your name is being attacked. They know better. They know the truth. But insecurity will keep a mouth closed that integrity should open.
And when people realize they can’t take you out, They stop fighting you directly And start waiting to see who else might. Let them wait. God didn’t build you to fall because somebody whispered.
#3 — They See You as a Threat: You didn’t touch them. You didn’t bother them. You didn’t block them. But your presence disrupts their comfort. You walking into a room shifts atmospheres. You striving for excellence exposes mediocrity. You progressing reminds them they’re stagnant. So, here’s a public service announcement: If anybody plans on knocking you down — They better hit you with their best shot.
Because you’re coming. It may take a year. It may take two. But you are on your way to becoming everything God ordained. Delay is not denial. And intimidation is confirmation.
#4 — They Hate the Way Others Love You: This one is biblical. Saul killed his thousands. David killed his ten thousands. And it wasn’t David’s sword that made Saul bitter — It was the applause.
Some people can handle your grind. They just can’t handle the love you receive. They’ll say, “It ain’t all that.” “They treating them like they somebody.” “Y’all doing too much.” But what they’re really saying is: “I don’t like how brightly they shine.”
Listen carefully: You can’t dim yourself to make insecure people comfortable. God anointed you in public. Favor will always make noise.
