A Courier Eco Latino Lift Him Up Awardee Keith Phillips

The Courier Eco Latino Lift Him Up Awards honor men in our community whose strength, perseverance and unwavering commitment serve as a beacon for others. These distinguished honorees inspire those around them—especially fellow men—by walking in purpose, leading by example and empowering others to rise.

Keith Phillips embodies that spirit.

A Columbus, Georgia, native raised in Phenix City, Alabama, Phillips has built a career as a graphic designer and mixed media artist whose work is deeply rooted in Black culture and community. Drawing on academic foundations from Chattahoochee Valley Community College, Auburn University at Montgomery, and Columbus Technical College, he has developed a signature “golden art on wood” technique that blends fine art with graphic design.

His passion for history and community engagement fuels each creation. Through his Black Box Art Gallery brand, Phillips has showcased his work at The Columbus Museum, Black Art in America, The New Black Wall Street Marketplace, and a range of Atlanta cultural venues including Apache Café and Moods Music.

Phillips’ art serves as more than visual expression—it is a tribute to community leaders, entertainers and cultural influencers across the South. By honoring the past and celebrating the present, his work inspires future generations to recognize their worth and potential.
