A Courier Eco Latino Lift Him Up Awardee Attorney William Kendrick

The Courier Eco Latino Lift Him Up Awards recognize men in our community whose strength, perseverance, and unwavering commitment serve as a beacon for others. These distinguished honorees uplift and inspire those around them—especially fellow men—by walking in purpose, leading by example, and empowering others to rise.

Attorney William Kendrick embodies that spirit.

Adopted at just six months old, Kendrick's journey has always reflected resilience, brilliance, and a calling to lead. A proud graduate of the Muscogee County School District, he distinguished himself early—excelling academically while immersing himself in the arts and athletics. He played violin, ran track, performed in drama productions, marched in the band, and maintained a GPA above 4.0.

His achievements earned him a scholarship to Morehouse College, where he majored in history with a pre-law concentration and served as head drum major of the iconic “House of Funk” Marching Band. After graduating with honors in 2004, he continued his pursuit of justice at Loyola School of Law in New Orleans. There, he not only survived the devastation of Hurricane Katrina but also went on to pass the Georgia Bar in 2007.

In 2008, Kendrick joined the law offices of J. Mark Shelnutt, where he quickly rose to prominence as a skilled trial attorney and passionate advocate for justice—successfully defending high-profile cases across the state of Georgia.

But Kendrick’s impact extends beyond the courtroom.

A true cultural visionary, he made history as the first Black conductor of a hip-hop orchestra at the Columbus RiverCenter’s “Blaq on Broadway.” He is also the founder of The Bloom—a garden-attire networking experience that blends Black sophistication with community connection.

Through every endeavor, Attorney William Kendrick proves that Black excellence is not just a phrase—it’s a lifestyle, a legacy, and a light for others to follow.
